We understand there are many reasons for losing your teeth including gum disease, dental decay and trauma. At Berkeley Lake Dental, we also know that losing your teeth can be very daunting, therefore, we will be here at every step of the way to help you find the best solution for you. With treatment for full arch reconstructions, one size does not fit all and for this reason we will assess your case thoroughly before outlining the most suitable treatment options for you in a detailed bespoke dental report. You will be able bite, chew, speak and laugh as you did with your natural teeth. Our in-house intra-oral digital scanners and CBCT scanning facilities mean we can provide our patients with the highest standard of care.
What are Dental Implants?
Dental Implants are the nearest tooth replacement to your own natural teeth. They provide an excellent solution if you are suffering with loose dentures or if you have lost, or are about to lose, any of your teeth. Dental Implants are fixed in place permanently, which means they feel and function like real teeth. They do not need to be taken in and out like dentures.
Who is Suitable For 'Same day teeth' with Dental Implants?
If you have no teeth or are about to lose your remaining teeth, immediate full arch dental implants can be considered to replace all of your teeth.
Same day teeth treatment is ideal for anyone who wants to regain confidence in their smile, ability to eat, speak and laugh. It provides an alternative to patients who do not want to have to wear a temporary denture for the duration of their Dental Implant treatment.
During your consultation we would assess your suitability for treatment using a thorough clinical assessment and a CBCT or 3D scan to analyze your bone levels in the regions of the proposed replacement teeth. If this is favorable then immediate same day teeth can be considered as an effective treatment option.
Benefits of the Fixed Full Arch of Dental Implants
Our patients will never go without teeth at any time throughout the treatment process.
This treatment will provide our patients with a full set of replacement teeth that feel as close to healthy natural teeth as is possible in modern dentistry. The teeth are fully functional and comparable to natural teeth in almost every way.
The benefits of having Dental Implants include:
- Replace loose dentures
- Maintain your bone structure following tooth loss
- Function and feel like natural teeth
- Improve the appearance of your smile
- Improve chewing and speaking
- Preserves the health of your jawbones and surrounding dental and gum health
- Provides a long term permanent solution
Replacing missing teeth is important in order to keep your teeth, gums and jawbone healthy. A face without teeth can lose its shape and started to look aged. Dental Implants help to retain your natural face structure and shape, which can greatly boost your confidence and even make you look younger.
Many of our patients describe their dental implants as being even better than their original teeth, and feel they are in their strongest and healthiest state. They are delighted to bite down on a steak for the first time in years, or to enjoy a refreshingly cool ice cream free from the fear of triggering an ache from sensitive teeth. On the whole, getting Dental Implants will enable you to enjoy your life, and the pleasures of a good meal once more.
STAGES OF FULL ARCH SAME DAY TEETH USING DENTAL IMPLANTS
At Berkeley Lake Dental, we use the latest and most up-to-date digital Cerec scanners to provide our patients with the highest standards of dental treatment. Our in-house CBCT scanner also enables us to meticulously plan your treatment to minimize the time you have to spend in the treatment room.
Meet the doctor:
During your consultation we would evaluate your suitability for treatment using a thorough clinical assessment and a CBCT scan to analyze your bone levels in the regions of the proposed replacement teeth. If this is favorable then immediate same day teeth can be considered as an effective treatment option. If this is not possible then the alternative pathways to provide a similar restorative solution would be offered such as ‘Implant Retained Dentures’ or ‘Conventional Fixed Full Arch Dental Implants’.
Manufacture of bespoke surgical guide:
The models of your mouth and the image of CBTC will be used to make a bespoke surgical guide. Our team will use this surgical guide during Implant placement to ensure each individual Dental Implant is carefully placed in the optimum position relative to the proposed final teeth.
Advantages of a Surgical Guide: Surgery using a drill guide fabricated on the basis of CT scan images transformed by a planning software offers several clinical advantages:
- More accurate execution of the planned surgery
- Eventually a flapless insertion of implants
- Avoiding anatomical structures within the bone
- Avoiding bone augmentation procedures by optimizing the use of available jaw bone
- Prefabrication of (provisional) prostheses allowing for immediate insertion
Dental Implants can take between 3-6 months to integrate with the underlying bone in full arch cases. You should expect to feel no pain during this period and your immediate fixed teeth will continue to be functional and worn during this secondary healing period.
Once integrated, the Dental Implants are ready to have the final teeth fitted to it. This process is mainly a restorative process that will enable us to replace your initial ‘same-day’ teeth with a permanent final full arch of teeth. Although the same day teeth are fixed and usable, they are ‘prototype teeth’. The full integration of the dental implants and gum healing will take approximately 6 months. For this reason, the ‘final’ permanent teeth are made after 6 months. At this stage we simply replace the initial teeth with the final teeth. This is a simple appointment that does not require any further surgery. The final teeth will be made with all the relevant surface textures, sizes and shades that our patients have chosen for their definitive final smile appearance.
Is Dental Implant Treatment Painful?
Dental Implant treatment is carried out under local anesthesia and so we will ensure that you will not be able to feel any pain throughout the appointment. There are no nerves, unlike when treating teeth, and so many patients find it a lot more comfortable than other dental treatments. If patients are worried about the procedure, it can also be carried out under sedation. We will be there for you through every step of the way.
How Long Does it Take?
With this particular treatment option, the initial treatment can all be provided on the same day. Both the Dental Implants and the immediate replacement teeth can be fitted at the same time. The treatment would usually commence at 8.00am and be completed by 4.00pm. Throughout the treatment, our patients may choose to be sedated and are therefore would be relaxed and comfortable.
By the end of the day, our patients leave with a full arch of fixed teeth to provide a functional and aesthetic smile.
Although these initial teeth are fixed in place and will still be aesthetic, they are ‘prototype teeth’, which are designed to last until the final restoration. The full integration of the dental implants and gum healing will take approximately 6 months. For this reason, the ‘final’ permanent teeth are made after 6 months. At this stage we simply replace the initial teeth with the final teeth. This is a simple appointment that does not require any further surgery.
